How to Tune the Flute

Tuning

Pull the headjoint out to make your sound lower.

Listen to a tuning note, then play
your note.
On the CD, the tuning note (Track
1) is A.
If your note sounds higher than the tuning note, your flute is sharp.
You need to make it lower. Pull your headjoint out a little, then test again.
If your note sounds lower, your flute is flat, and you need to make it higher. Push the headjoint in and test again.
When your note sounds the same as the tuning note, your flute is in tune.

Push the headjoint in to make your sound higher.
